Meet the team

Mr and Mrs Hanson
BSc. B.Vet.Med. MRCVS

Qualified in 1976 and have been running Hanson's Veterinary Practice since 1982. Mrs Hanson is now our Practice manager having taken time out to raise their family of four children. Apart from working hard in the practice Mr Hanson is a very keen golfer and a past Captain of Heyrose Golf Club, where amongst other things he continues to organise charity events and enjoys travelling, with a few rounds of golf!

Claire Hanson
B.Sc. B.Vet. Med. MRCVS

Claire graduated from London Veterinary School in 2004 and worked briefly in Glasgow before joining the family practice. She bought a house in October 2010 with her partner Simon and, once renovations are complete, hopes to adopt Jimmy the cat from the parental home. Outside work she enjoys travel, reading, cooking and long walks with Szusy (the family Viszla) Claire also plays badminton, golf and netball in a league with friends.

Adam Wraith

Adam graduated from The University of Nottingham and worked in North Manchester. He saw practice with us as a student and has joined us as part of the team. He has an interest in exotic species and breeds leopard geckos. His other main interests are sport, playing hockey, football and enjoys swimming and scuba diving.


Sam, who trained as an RVN and worked with us previously, has returned full time to the practice as Head Nurse. She has a lot of experience with animals. She also manages a family, supervises a kennels and cattery, looks after and exercises 5-6 horses and still finds time to play netball and take part in horse events. We are very lucky to have her re-join us to manage the nursing team.


Lives in Cheadle and has a distinction in a Foundation level degree in Art & Design. She has a young German Shepherd called Obi. She has worked part time at Home Farm in Tatton where she worked with poultry, donkeys, reindeer, pigs and horses. She enjoys long walks, the cinema and socialising.


Jo is our senior trainee nurse. She started at the practice in July 2010. Jo works hard in the practice and at college and still manages her partner and two young children, Ella and Owen born in 2003 and 2008. She has 3 cats Erica, Ariel and Gohan. Before all these commitments she had horses and did Kick Boxing. Now as a young mum she encourages her children in their interests.


Sarah joined the practice in June 2013. She gained a degree in Visual Communication from Leeds College of Art after leaving sixth form. She then went on to volunteer at the Society for Abandoned Animals and also worked at the RSPCA Manchester Hospital. She has three cats Tabitha, Olive and Tiggy and a gecko called Maurice. Apart from her cats her hobbies include socialising with friends and art.


Carris joined the practice in September 2013. She has a cat called Freda and a guinea pig called Paola. In her spare time she volunteers for a local animal charity. She has a keen interest in drawing, painting and reading. Her favourite time is that spent with her family and friends.


Erica is a fully trained and experienced RVN who previously worked in the small animal part of a busy mixed practice. She has nursed a large number of dogs, cats and rabbits as well as ferrets, tortoises, guinea pigs and other exotics. Erica enjoys outdoor pursuits including walking, cycling, canoeing and jogging, has a passion for music and is learning to play the drums. She has a pet cat called Stark.
